CalmerMinds - Psychotherapy
Solution Focused Psychotherapy
The type of psychotherapy that I practise is designed to reduce anxiety and calm the mind - like smoothing troubled waters. It is called Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
As the name suggests it focuses on solutions for the future, rather than analysing problems of the past.
It is highly effective in relieving the symptoms of anxiety and stress. Focusing on solutions means that we do not dwell on problems of the past.
Instead we:
•acknowledge where you are currently
•identify where you want to be
•help you to achieve your goal.
Your goal may be as specific as overcoming a fear of spiders, or it may be more involved, eg letting go of guilt or overcoming feelings of low self-worth.
Solution focused Psychotherapy Isn’t…
The type of psychotherapy that I practise does not involve you analysing painful memories from the past. If you have experienced unpleasant events, we acknowledge that they happened and help you get from where you are to where you want to be.
What to Expect
What is Psychotherapy ?
There are many different kinds of psychotherapy, all of which aim to help people overcome stress or emotional problems. Psychotherapy involves clients and therapists talking together to help clients overcome their difficulties. Psychotherapy is often referred to as a ‘talking treatment’.
